Barrett-Jackson’s Second Scottsdale Auction of 2024

In January, Barrett-Jackson revealed plans for a second Scottsdale auction in their 2024 lineup. The first Fall Scottsdale auction took place in October 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic, and after receiving positive feedback, Barrett-Jackson has decided to bring it back. Here’s a preview of what’s in store this Fall 2024:

Alan Smith Collection

1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona | Lot #751

This 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona coupe, from The Alan Smith Collection, features its original matching-numbers 4.4-liter V12 engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Repainted in its classic Fly Yellow with a fresh polish, it boasts a black interior, chrome wire-spoke wheels, and new tires. The car has undergone a full inspection and major service, including a tune-up, air-conditioning service, and alignment, with zero miles since completion. A Marcel Massini report verifies its original options and ownership history, with 34,277 miles on the odometer. This Ferrari is one of the vehicles bidders will be keeping a close eye on!

The Laymon Family Collection

24 Consigned Cars Will Cross the Block

The Laymon Family Collection will be a highlight at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, featuring 24 vehicles selling at No Reserve. Focused primarily on General Motors models from the 1960s and 1970s, the collection reflects the Laymon family’s passion for automotive history, meticulous restoration, and custom innovation. A standout among the lineup is a custom 1967 Chevrolet Nova with a professionally built Pro-Touring setup, making it one of the most anticipated vehicles of the auction.

Classic and Late-Model Mopars

What’s a Mopar?

A Mopar car refers to a vehicle built by one of the original Chrysler Corp. brands, which include Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Ram, Chrysler, and Imperial, listed in order of rank. Of those, only Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler remain today.

1971 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Custom Coupe | Lot #675

This custom 1971 Dodge Challenger Hellcat features a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI Hellcat engine delivering 700hp, paired with an HP90 8-speed automatic transmission and an 8.75-inch Sure-Grip rear end with Mosier axles. Built on RMS suspension with coilovers on all four corners and QA1 rear components, it’s equipped with power steering and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes for enhanced handling. The rotisserie restoration included stripping the car to bare metal before finishing it in custom HEMI Orange, complete with a Shaker hood and rear RT wing. Inside, the car retains a classic look but incorporates modern upgrades like a stock-appearing Bluetooth stereo, Dakota Digital Rallye gauges, and a Vintage Air system. This 1971 Challenger is set to turn heads as it crosses the auction block.

2013 Dodge Viper GTS | Lot #403

This 2013 Dodge Viper GTS features an 8.4-liter V10 engine with 640hp and a 6-speed manual transmission. It comes equipped with an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Uconnect Infotainment with GPS, and rides on aftermarket polished black wheels with Pirelli tires. The car is finished in GTS Blue with a Sepia leather interior and includes the original Window Sticker, owner’s manual, and original chrome wheels. Crossing the block at this Fall’s auction, this Viper stands as one of the most highly sought-after late model Mopars of the event.

The Future Collector Car Show (FCCS) – Sunday Concours?

The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction will once again feature the Future Collector Car Show (FCCS) on October 13, showcasing over 200 collectible vehicles. Known for celebrating the craftsmanship and passion of the next generation of car enthusiasts, FCCS is a family-friendly event where esteemed concours judges hand-pick top cars from the 1980s to present day. Every vehicle entered is eligible for the prestigious Best of Show trophy, while spectators can participate by voting for their favorite in the People’s Choice award.

The Renault R5 Turbo II, winner of the January 2024 “Best of Show” at Barrett-Jackson auctions.

One standout from past shows is the Renault R5 Turbo II, which won the January 2024 Best of Show title. This rare gem was one of only 200 homologation models built in 1985, and with just 3,000 units produced between 1983 and 1986, the R5 Turbo II has become a sought-after icon from the 1980s automotive scene. FCCS offers a unique opportunity to experience rare and emerging classics up close. Dare we say FCCS is the Sunday Concours of the Barrett-Jackson auction?
