Few experiences connect a driver to a car quite like an open cockpit. Add a twin-turbocharged V8, three electric motors and a claimed top speed of 217 mph, and that experience becomes something extraordinary.

The new Aston Martin Valhalla Spider brings open-air driving to the brand’s mid-engined hybrid supercar. Designed to preserve the performance and flowing lines of the Valhalla Coupe, it becomes the fastest open-cockpit production Aston Martin ever made.

For enthusiasts following the next generation of exotic cars, this is a debut worth watching.

Hybrid Power With a V8 at Its Heart

The Valhalla Spider shares the Coupe’s plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a bespoke 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged, flat-plane-crank V8 with three electric motors.

Together, they produce 1,079 PS and 1,100 Nm of torque. The V8 contributes 828 PS, while the electric motors deliver an additional 251 PS.

Two electric motors power the front axle, using electric torque vectoring to help manage agility and stability. A third motor works alongside the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to support the V8 at the rear axle.

Coordinating that hardware is Aston Martin’s Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system, which monitors the suspension, braking, steering, active aerodynamics and powertrain. Four selectable driving modes allow drivers to explore the car’s range of road and track capabilities.

Roof Off, Full Performance

Removing the roof often introduces compromises. Aston Martin engineered the Valhalla Spider to retain its electronically limited 217-mph top speed with the roof removed.

The roof options accommodate different driving plans:

  • Standard removable fabric roof: Stows away and supports driving speeds up to 124 mph when fitted.
  • Optional carbon-fiber hardtop: Allows access to the car’s full 217-mph top speed with the roof installed.
  • Static rain cover: Provides additional protection when parked.

A removable wind deflector helps manage airflow over the occupants while directing cooling air toward the engine’s intake snorkel. The Spider’s revised snorkel sits 35 mm higher than the Coupe’s, supporting the demands of its open-cockpit configuration.

Engineering Beyond the Roofline

The Valhalla Spider’s development involved Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting arm of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1® Team.

Its carbon-fiber passenger cell combines specialized composite manufacturing processes to create a strong, lightweight structure. Active aerodynamic systems adjust front and rear downforce to suit driving conditions, while revised aerodynamic and stability-control calibrations accommodate driving with the roof fitted or removed.

Aston Martin reports more than 600 kg of downforce with the roof fitted, helping support the Spider’s performance ambitions.

The result is a supercar designed to deliver both an engaging road experience and substantial track capability.

A More Inviting Cockpit

A new carbon-fiber Touring Seat comes standard, emphasizing comfort and easier entry and exit. Drivers who prefer greater support for dynamic driving can select the Coupe’s original carbon-fiber seat at no additional cost.

The signature dihedral doors remain, now featuring frameless glass and revised operation. These details preserve the visual theater expected of an Aston Martin supercar while making the cockpit easier to access.

Deliveries Begin in 2027

The Valhalla Spider is scheduled to make its global debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, with deliveries beginning in the third quarter of 2027.

For enthusiasts, its appeal extends beyond the specifications. It combines the sound and character of a bespoke V8 with hybrid engineering—and the added connection of driving under an open sky.
