The Heart of Another: Exotic Cars with Engines from Other Makers

If we’ve learned nothing in this love affair with exotic cars, we’ve learned that exotic carmakers always have one more trick up their sleeve. There’s always another surprise, a tasty bit of trivia that ignites our imagination and never ceases to amaze. And if you like those surprises then be prepared to have your world sufficiently rocked. The name of the maker on the car doesn’t always match the name of the maker on the engine.

Whoa!

Lamborghini and Audi

As most people know by now, Lamborghini is part of the Volkswagen Group which also includes Bugatti, Porsche, and Audi and others. Speaking of Audi, the German automaker dropped its V10 5.2 litre engine in the Lamborghini Huracan giving it a breathtaking top speed of 202 mph.

Pagani and Mercedes-Benz

This Italian supercar maker may be small, but the cars that roll off their production line are anything but inferior. The Huayra is no exception. When drawing up this incredible supercar, Pagani reached out to Mercedes-Benz asking to drop their 6.0 liter V12 engine under its hood. As a side note, rumor has it that Pagani is also eying the development of an electric vehicle toward the middle of this decade.

Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG

These two carmakers teamed up to give the Vantage a killer V8 engine. Fun fact, the 4.0 litre twin-turbo was also dropped into the DB11. This partnership gives the Vantage an impressive top speed of 195 mph, taking it from of 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds.

Alfa Romeo and Ferrari (well, sort of)

Talk about your complicated relationships! Parent company, Fiat, houses Alfa Romeo (along with Ferrari) while Fiat is a member of the Chrysler group. Regardless of the interesting lineage, the two Italian brands still have full rein to produce their own cars their way (at this time anyway). Two of Alfa’s cars, the Giulia Quadrafoglio and Stelvio Quadrafoglio have the heart of a Ferrari – part of it, that is. Alfa chose to drop the partial Ferrari 2.9 liter V6 under their hoods. We must say the results are heart-stopping.
